STEPHEN J. SYPOLE has been with the firm since 2012.  He is licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Education // 

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School (2002), Elon University (B.A., philosophy and political science, magna cum laude, 2006), Georgetown University (certificate in business administration, 2008), Roger Williams University School of Law (J.D., summa cum laude, honors program, law review assistant editor, 2012).

 

Professional Experience // 

Steve has over a decade of experience litigating – and handling appeals – in a variety of cases including personal injury, insurance defense, product liability, medical malpractice, civil rights, insurance coverage, business disputes and land use, planning and zoning. He frequently represents clients in licensing and permitting matters before city and town councils, planning boards, and zoning boards. He has served as the Solicitor for the Town of Hopkinton, RI since 2020 and as an Assistant Solicitor in Exeter, RI since 2013 and has represented the Towns of North Providence and Richmond, RI in litigation matters.

Membership and Civic Appointments // 

Attorney Sypole is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and previously served on the Rhode Island Bar Journal Editorial Board. He was the recipient of the 2013 Rhode Island Bar Journal Lauren E. Jones Writing Award. He has served as a member of the Economic Development Commission and Planning Board, as well as Judge of the Housing Court in Warren, RI.

 

Steve has three young sons and frequently volunteers his time in connection with their school and athletic activities, including Boy Scout and Cub Scout events for Troop 6 in Bristol, RI.
